some thoughts on a serendipitous morning
Good morning,
A few hours of serendipity have come my way and I thought I'd write them down before I forget that they exist.
We figured out how to turn on the heating!
I awoke this morning to Daniel's smiling face as he got into bed after working all night on his doctorate. He's nearing the end!
I got ready quickly, I had booked to join the nearest running group I could find. Unfortunately it started in Eddington, a 20 minute walk away. I did not make it in time for the beginning (got lost in a series of dead ends), however I did manage to run/walk about 10 kilometers in an hour which left me feel invigorated but slightly weak. My aim is the classic "couch to 5k".
Back home I found Daniel asleep and the kids, bless 'em, trying to hold it together. You could see they really were trying, they had their workbooks out and were even wearing jumpers! They weren't actually succeeding in doing any learning but it was good to see they'd tried.
I convinced them to eat (why do they never think of that themselves?? and why do they need to be convinced to eat delicious cereal??!)
I had thoughts to go to Ely to explore. But... the kids want to make Batya's teddy bear a doll's house using cartons. I can't see the appeal in junk modelling but if they can, enjoy!
One week left before the older two start school. I'm thinking of learning something to inspire the kids and give me some sympathy for their struggles. But maybe that's a little too ambitious :)
